Sometimes it feels like
I'm surrounded by idiots.I'm playing spring softball, since I am a softball whore. I'll play anywhere for anyone except that jamtart Blake. Anyways, this team that I'm playing on, has a few of the familiar faces from the fall ball team. I thought that the twins weren't going to be on the team.
Whoops, was I wrong.
Both twins are playing, well, attempting to play. Case, our manager type person, had enough of Twin 1's atrocious serve-it-up pitching and told Timmy that he would pitch for the season. That was a great move because Timmy is a good pitcher. I believe that Timmy would be a better pitcher than Twin 1 even if Timmy was pitching left-handed. That left Twin 1 without a position which forced Case to put him at catcher. That's fine because Twin 1 can actually catch occaisionally. However, he has never backed anything up in his life except maybe a toilet or two.
That leaves Twin 2 playing what was supposed to be my original position at first. We're faced with a double-edged sword as Twin 2 can only catch a ball thrown right at him, and even then he can struggle. There is no way that he could ever dig one out from the dirt. Here's the problem, if I'm put at first, that means that he's put out in right and he couldn't catch a fly ball if he was using a garbage can.
What kills us though is their bad desicions in the field. Tonight for example, we had a play at first. Twin 2 actually made the catch, but the runner at second took off. Timmy was yelling "NO! NO! NO!" so that Twin 2 wouldn't throw the ball, but that never registered through his feeble mind. He throws a wild throw into the NEXT FIELD and the runner trots home.
The other problem with these two is the fact that someone never taught them how to run the bases. Both of them run while looking at the ball which slows them down. Argh they're frustrating.
It wasn't a good night as we got drilled 17-7. JP didn't have a good game as he made three errors out in left center. For some reason just because he played college baseball, he thinks he should be God's gift to softball. So when he makes an error or two, he quits trying, then he starts trying to force it at the dish. Case and DD had all kinds of trouble on the left side of the infield. Case just rushes his throws and I can't get it through his head that he need to just take that extra split second to find his target.
It looked like Timmy and I were the only two that showed up to play tonight. I went 2-3 with 3 ribbies which felt great. I was way overdue to hit the ball.
Hopefully we can put up our clown shoes for Thursday's twinbill.
