The art of

scraping together a team.

I've perfected it. I understand things come up. I get it. But, don't let things come up at 5:45 when it's a 6:30 game. Last night, I got a call from our normal shortstop at 5:45 saying he wasn't going to make it.
Excuse me? Ferg, um, when did you know this? It was your daughter's birthday and you didn't realize this til 5:30? Ok.
We were about to take on the team that took second last year in the league tourney and we only had 9 players. Fortunately, Luke and Kell called a friend of theirs and he dashed down to play giving us 10. I'm not sure it would have mattered as we put a stomping down on them, run-ruling them 19-4. It felt good to score and play good defense, especially in that wind. Now on friday we're at full strength of having 11 people, maybe even 12. Not sure that's ever happened with us, and I don't know what to do, but it's a good problem to have.
Maybe we can even keep hitting. That would be fun.
